Take Highway 169 East through Ely.  From the east side of town, go one mile and turn left onto County Road 88 (aka Grant McMahon Boulevard).

Travel northwest around Shagawa Lake for 2.8 miles.  Turn right (north) onto the Echo Trail (aka County Road 116).

Travel 21 miles.  Watch for the Big Lake Wilderness Lodge sign on the left .
