Big Lake Wilderness Lodge is located 23 miles north of Ely on the
scenic Echo Trail, which winds from Ely to Crane Lake. Surrounded by the
Superior National Forest with its abundant wildlife, numerous hiking trails
and proximity to the famed Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness,
we’re the most remote drive-in lodge in northern Minnesota.
With 1,800 acres of water, 14 islands, and numerous inlets and bays,
Big Lake is a place of rugged beauty.
Here, you’ll find life’s most rewarding pleasures. Freshly caught fish ready
for the frypan. Dense pine and birch forests with impressive vistas that
have remained virtually unchanged for generations. Nighttime skies
sparkling with a heaven full of stars and, sometimes, a vivid display of
Northern Lights. Our clean air and pure waters invite you, your family
and friends to enjoy the Northwoods out-of-doors.
This great American wilderness is our home, and we invite you to
explore all the unique opportunities this area provides.
For fishing, hiking, canoe trip adventures, family-oriented summer
getaways and more...
Big Lake Wilderness Lodge invites you to be our guest.
