Welcome To Big Lake Wilderness Lodge
Big Lake Wilderness Lodge is a remote wilderness resort located 23 miles north of Ely, MN on the scenic Echo Trail, which winds from Ely, MN to Crane Lake. Surrounded by the Superior National Forest with its abundant wildlife, numerous hiking trails and proximity to the famed Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, we're the most remote drive-in resort in northern Minnesota. Bring the whole family for a remote MN vacation getaway. We're a pet friendly resort, too!
Here, you'll find life's most rewarding pleasures. Freshly caught fish ready for the fry pan. Dense pine and birch forests with impressive vistas that have remained virtually unchanged for generations. Nighttime skies sparkling with a heaven full of stars and, sometimes, a vivid display of Northern Lights. Our clean air and pure waters invite you, your family and friends to enjoy the Northwoods out-of-doors.
With 1,800 acres of water, 14 islands, and numerous inlets and bays, Big Lake is a place of rugged beauty. This northern MN lake is one of the DNR's top-rated walleye lakes and also holds northern pike, smallmouth bass, and perch. No motor-size restrictions. Public boat ramp access nearby. If fishing is the number one priority for your vacation, our Wilderness Fishing Sampler has everything you need!
Our fishing season opens here May 14th. Spring and fall fishing means colder water spurring the larger fish into feeding frenzies in shallow, more accessible patterns; fishing action really heats up in the summer as the lake warms up driving fish to main lake structure. These are all great times of the year for the serious fisherman. Our economical Walleye Fever package includes a lake view cabin, boats and motors, and initial supply of gas and bait at one low price.
For fishing, hiking, canoe trip adventures, family-oriented summer getaways and more...
Big Lake Wilderness Lodge invites you to be our guest.
